Shamans = Durids?

Our Shaman brethren, more like us then we knew

Our Shaman brethren, more like us then we knew

Well, as you might know from the About the Blogger page, I play not only a Moonkin but also an Enhancement Shaman. So, after not finding anything more about Moonkins (and there was a lot!) I decided to take a look at the updated-for-beta Shaman talents. And what did I find?

Spectral Transformation: Requires 40 points in Enhancement Talents. Gives you a 50/100% chance to remove all movement impairing effects when you transform into Ghost Wolf and a 50/100% chance to have your Spirit Wolves to be immune to all stun, snare and movement impairing effects when summoned.

lolwut?

So with this brand new talent and a talent in Tier 2 which can reduce the cast time for Ghost Wolf from 2 seconds to instant cast, an Enhancement Shaman can essentially have a Travel Form! Now, I for one am for this. I’m sure a lot of Druids will complain that this infringes on their territory. But not only because I play an Enhancement Shaman, I think this is a good idea.

First of all, take into account that this ability requires 4 whole talent points. That’s huge. Second of all, Shaman have a very difficult time staying in range of their targets because of the lack of snare resistance. This was helped with talented instant Ghost Wolf and a 5 point talent dump to halve the duration of movement impairing effects, but this talent just polishes it off. Now, will this make it to release? Probably not, actually, would be my guess. They are playing around with stuff, that’s for sure. Do I think it should? Probably. Maybe it could be nerfed to 50% max chance, and that might be a reasonable compromise. But I will continue to argue that this is warranted, because of how deep the Shaman has to spec to get this ability. Not to mention that the current wording doesn’t apply in reverse. Shifting out of Ghost Wolf won’t remove these effects. And it’s a little vague on whether or not this includes roots. I would guess so, but perhaps not. And the little Shaman can still be polymorphed. These are my reasons I would use to try and calm the jealous Druids out there.

Another hint that this might not make it through is I heard they might be ditching Spirit Wolves altogether. This would make me very sad.

I think this is a positive change overall, and will be sad if it gets ditched.

I might start up a second page about Shamans in general. There’s some great stuff there.
